70% of children & young people in the UK are not receiving appropriate treatment for mental health difficulties at an early enough stage.
For birth and adoptive parents, foster carers and social workers, educationalists and therapists, having a sound understanding and the ability to spot the early signs of emotional difficulties is vital. But knowing how best to help a child or young person in these early stages is equally important when taking a proactive approach to care.
We offer a variety of training packages ranging from short presentations raising awareness of mental health and attachment for parents and professionals to three-day masterclasses in approaches including PACE.
We are approved and endorsed by DDP Connects as PACE trainers and were trained and are currently supervised by Kim Golding. All our training is delivered nationally and we offer 1,2 and 3 day packages in this highly effective approach. You can read more about us here.
In addition to PACE, we work closely with parents, social workers, adoption/foster carers and agencies, teachers and Local Authorities to create bespoke training packages. These can be focused on topics such as Self harm, Depression, Anxiety and other mental health difficulties. We also offer general support for parents and teaching staff directly caring for young people. Our training is experiential as we feel delegates learn more by being actively involved in their learning and the feedback from our past and current clients which you can read below, reflects the effectiveness of our approach.

- PACE -
PACE is a way of thinking, feeling, communicating and behaving that aims to increase a sense of safety and trust in another person. It is a therapeutic approach drawing on Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy and incorporates these concepts into how parents and professionals communicate with the children in their care who have difficulties regulating their emotions and behaviour.
All our PACE training draws on a perfect balance of theory and experiential teaching methods to ensure an informative and enjoyable learning experience. Read our PACE brochure for more information, and browse our PACE training courses below.

The day was really well put together with a good balance of theory, practical exercises and videos to illustrate key points.

I really valued being able to give PACE a go with feedback from the trainer. I found the whole day really very entertaining.

I came away feeling I had gained a good understanding of PACE and feel confident in beginning to utilise it in my work.
Social Worker, Bromsgrove
As a foster carer I found it so valuable to be in a room with other carers in the same situation as me, the trainer was excellent, explained everything & made us all feel at ease.
Foster Carer, Lancashire
I liked having an opportunity to try 'PACE' out in small groups with real life examples. It was amazing to compare the 'problem solving' and PACE approaches on the day.
Parent, Kings School, Worcester
Excellent course! Content was completely relatable to children we foster and gives a deeper understanding of behaviour allowing for a more therapeutic way of parenting.
Adoptive Parent, Cumbria
Everyone working with developmentally traumatised children should absolutely do this training!
Foster Carer & Teacher, Worcestershire
Social Worker, Bromsgrove
Having the opportunity to take a step back from a situation & think about it from a young person's perspective given their experiences was insightful.
Social Worker, Cumbria
I particularly found the Shield of Shame insightful as it was totally relatable to the children I work with, and I loved the PACE way of parenting.
